Bike helmets in-mold and hard-shell helmets made for your brand

The bike helmet is the largest single accessory in cycling and the one buyers scrutinize most. TandemForge supplies bike helmets for road, mountain, urban commuting, kids and e-bike riders to bike and e-bike brands, bike shops, sporting goods retailers and e-commerce sellers — in-mold PC/EPS and ABS hard-shell constructions with your colors, graphics, fit system and packaging. Because helmets are a regulated product, every SKU goes through a compliance process for your market before production; this page describes that process and claims no certification. Pair helmets with bike lights or see the whole bike safety range.

  • In-mold (PC shell + EPS) and hard-shell (ABS + EPS) constructions
  • Road, MTB, urban/commuter, kids and e-bike styles
  • Retention dial, magnetic or side-release buckle, visor, LED options
  • Market standard and lab testing confirmed per SKU and per order

Bike helmet styles we supply

  • Road helmets — light in-mold shells with large vents and a slim profile.
  • MTB / trail helmets — extended rear coverage and a visor; full-face styles quoted on request.
  • Urban and commuter helmets — rounder skate-style or smooth shells, often with an integrated rear LED and reflective details.
  • Kids’ and youth helmets — smaller size runs and bright graphics; children’s products carry extra documentation duties (see compliance below).
  • E-bike helmets — commuter styles with more coverage and lights. Helmets for speed pedelecs are a separate category in some countries (for example NTA 8776 in the Netherlands) and are quoted only with that documentation path.

Construction and materials

In-mold helmets fuse a thin polycarbonate (PC) shell to the expanded polystyrene (EPS) liner during molding — the usual choice for road, MTB and premium commuter helmets. Hard-shell helmets glue or tape a thicker ABS outer shell over the EPS liner — common for urban, skate-style and kids’ helmets. Some multi-sport helmets use EPP foam. Fit systems use a rear retention dial or a fixed pad set; straps are nylon or polyester webbing with side-release or magnetic buckles. Pads are removable and washable. Materials are compared in the specs & selection guide.

Helmet compliance — the process, not a claim

We do not claim that any helmet shown or described here meets any standard. Bicycle helmets are regulated, so each helmet program follows a documented process:

  1. Market and standard. You name the destination markets and channels. In the US, bicycle helmets fall under the CPSC safety standard for bicycle helmets (16 CFR Part 1203) and need a certificate of compliance supported by testing — for children’s helmets, testing by a CPSC-accepted third-party laboratory. In the EU and UK, EN 1078 (EN 1080 for some young-children helmets) is the usual reference under the PPE rules. Other markets have their own standards.
  2. Model and size range. Tests apply to a specific model, shell size and construction; color or graphic changes are usually fine, structural changes are not. This is fixed before sampling.
  3. Laboratory testing. The exact SKU is tested by an accredited laboratory that you and the supplier agree on; whether existing reports for a platform can be used is confirmed per order.
  4. Labels and manual. Required labels, warnings, date codes and manuals are drafted for your market and approved by your team.
  5. Production control. Batch traceability and any periodic re-testing your market requires are agreed on the quotation.

Labeling and claims on your packaging are the brand owner’s responsibility and must match the documentation for that SKU.

No certifications, ratings or test data claimed. We describe what each product is made of, how it works and how it can be customized. We do not display certification marks or security ratings, publish test data, factory capacity or customer cases on this site. Test reports and certification documentation can be provided or arranged per order for the buyer’s market, as the brand owner requires. Bike helmets and lithium e-bike batteries are regulated products: the applicable standard (for example CPSC 16 CFR 1203 / EN 1078 for helmets; UN 38.3 transport testing and UL 2271 / UL 2849 / EN 50604-1 for batteries) is confirmed per SKU and per order with the supplier and an accredited lab before production. Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between in-mold and hard-shell helmets?

In-mold helmets fuse a thin PC shell to the EPS liner during molding, giving a lighter, more ventilated helmet. Hard-shell helmets attach a thicker ABS shell to the liner and are common for urban and kids’ styles.

Can I change the color or graphics of an existing tested model?

Usually yes — color and graphics changes are normally possible on an existing model. Any structural change (shell, liner, vents, size) can require new testing; this is confirmed per SKU before sampling.

Do you make kids’ helmets?

Yes, in smaller size runs with kid-friendly graphics. Children’s helmets carry extra documentation duties in many markets (in the US, third-party testing at a CPSC-accepted laboratory), confirmed per order.

Can you add a rear light to the helmet?

Yes — integrated or clip-on USB-rechargeable rear LEDs are available on selected models.

Do your helmets meet CPSC or EN 1078?

We do not claim that any helmet on this site meets a specific standard. Bicycle helmets are a regulated product: in the US they fall under the CPSC bicycle helmet standard (16 CFR Part 1203), in the EU and UK EN 1078 is the usual reference, and other markets have their own rules. For each helmet SKU and order, the buyer and supplier confirm the target market, the standard, which accredited laboratory tests the exact model and size range, and the resulting certificate and labeling — before mass production. See the compliance process in our specs guide.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the platform (an existing design vs. a new mold), color, logo method, packaging and the documentation your market needs; lead time depends on customization, documentation and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.
